our mission

Platte Valley Theatre Arts (PVTA) believes theatre has both the unique opportunity and the responsibility to entertain and delight, to inspire conversation and reflection, and to open horizons for artists and audiences of all ages.

That’s why for over two decades we’ve served as a cornerstone of the performing arts in Colorado, providing thought-provoking, entertaining and exceptional-quality programming showcased in a joyful, intimate theatre.

A key priority for PVTA is the support, encouragement, and safe space we provide young artists. We do this through Platte Valley Youth Theatre (PVYT), encouraging young artists to develop their love for theatre, connect with peers from diverse backgrounds, find inspiration and creativity, and expand their world view through theatrical content.

With support from our experienced program leaders, participants find a safe space to flourish in their own personalities, never afraid to be themselves. PVYT challenges participants to take ownership of their art by dedicating time at rehearsal and home to prepare for performances. Setting a high bar inspires them to rise to the challenge, fostering accountability and pride.

OUR YOUTH PROGRAMMING
  • Annual full production for youth 1st-9th grade. Auditions are usually in the fall and performances the following spring. Learn more about this year's production.

  • Musical theatre and acting workshops where youth grades 1st-12th learn the basics in singing, acting and dancing- and doing all three at the same time! In these multi-week and one-day workshops participants learn the basic skills every performer needs to succeed on stage.

  • My Time to Shine, our biannual summer performance day camp. Participants learn a number of fun, energetic songs, including choreography, culminating in three performances on a variety of different stages with different audiences.

our programming

PVTA seeks to welcome, engage, entertain and spark connection and conversation among our community and our audiences. Our programming is chosen to be unique and socially relevant, creating a safe (and entertaining) space to process the world around us through exceptional performance arts, and the dialogue those performances spark.

our history

Centered in Brighton, Colorado—a short drive from any Denver metro-area location—PVTA has presented critically acclaimed and award-winning performance arts since 2003. Our thoughtfully curated programming, exceptional production quality and acting excellence rival anything found at large performing arts centers locally and nationally.

In 2012, we introduced our youth performance program to provide a space for young actors to explore their creativity, develop their talents,  and foster a lifelong love for theatre.
